New York Car Rentals and Ground Zero

On September 11, 2001, Americans watched with the rest of the world in horror as the idea of freedom and security was forever changed. When two hijacked airlines crashed into the two Twin Towers at the World Trade Centers, the buildings crumbled and nearly three thousand innocent people lost their lives. It was a day that changed how many people live their lives and will forever be remembered as one of the worst days in the history of this country.

The term "Ground Zero" was actually applied to the site of the Twin Towers destruction by Western journalists who took the term from the definition of Ground Zero being the "exact location on the ground marking the detonation point of any bomb." It has since become synonymous with other disasters, both natural and human-made. With the rubble from the buildings now completely cleared away and plans for a memorial in the works, millions of people from around the world have visited Ground Zero since that fateful day in 2001.

They come for many reasons: to pay their respects, to remember those who lost their lives and to pray for those who lost their loved ones, and also to try and gain some closure for one of the most horrific days in American history. Whatever their reasons and no matter what is eventually constructed at the former site of the Twin Towers, Ground Zero will forever be remembered and respected.
